I suspect you'll find it works just like it did for him.By Daniel Stoller (Research Scientist, Spotify): “I started from Paul Werner’s comical interpretation of the well-known Sonata No. Just go along with it exactly as he does it. Watch his video, go slow, step-by-step, follow his instructions even if you think it's not applicable or what you want. He just uses the audio to drive the MIDI that gets recorded to the same track. He's not creating a separate tracks for the audio and MIDI. One thing I notice is that in his approach, the MIDI gets recorded on the same track as the guitar input. He's literally doing the same exact same thing you're trying to only he's using a Piano virtual instrument instead of a bass, which won't make a difference in the procedure. Thank you for your help.įollow along with Kenny's video slowly step by step. How do I make sure the notes are current and the painted notes are fully painted and in sync with the kick drum?Īny advice and suggestions is appreciated. When I open up the midi map of the virtual bass, the painted notes aren’t clear or not painted full? It’s half painted? There is significant latency from the notes playing in the audio and the virtual bass playing the note In conclusion, it works but there are issues and questions I am not sure if this procedure is correct or not? Please let me know if there is something I missed or should have done? Then I add the virtual bass to the midi bass track The audio from the audio track will now be converted to midi on the midi bass track. Arm the midi bass track and record from the audio track. On the midi bass track I put in reatune and check the box that has send midi? Open a new track call it midi bass, and set the output to all midi/all channels and from the audio track send the routing to the midi bass track. Open a new track called it Audio, made sure my guitar is in tune and record the guitar playing the bass notes. I would prefer to play them on the guitar.įrom that reaper video, I was able to do the following I really don’t like sitting down with a guitar in one hand and painting the notes on the midi map. I usually play/record the bass notes on my guitar and use reapitch to pitch shift it down an octave, add a bass amp sim, and compression and eq. I have been using pitch shifted guitar for the bass in all my recordings. Basically to clarify on what I want to do. Once it's MIDI you can quantize it after the fact as needed. Watch this (was it already posted here?): Set your record input to "Record Output: MIDI" (this will not record the guitar but record the MIDI) Place a ReaEQ after ReaTune use the pin-routing to uncheck outputs 1 and 2 - this will mute your guitarĥ. Click the option in Reatune to output MIDIĤ. Add ReaTune as the first FX slot - I believe you want to use it as an input FXģ. Setup your audio track so you hear your guitar, set your levels (not too hot, not too quiet)Ģ. Suggestions and advice on the easiest way of getting this done?ġ. I am open to any suggestions to the best way to do this.īasically i am trying to find the quickest and easiest way of using my virtual bass in my recordingĢ) Take that audio and convert it to midiģ) Open the midi and make sure that the notes played are in sync with the timing of the kick drumĤ) Put the midi on a new track with the virtual bass If you just render the midi, the original audio goes away anyway. This is only an issue if you want to hear what will happen before rendering the midi or are trying to do it in real time. You can disable all the bands too, but it doesn’t use much cpu anyway. I usually just drop in ReaEQ and disable its input pins. Most synths I own will mix their output with whatever is coming in, so that you end up having to block the audio original audio somehow. It takes some tweaking, but can work reasonably well.Īlso I’ve never found away to stop ReaTune from passing the audio. If you really want it to follow the input, though, you can put the JS Velocity thing after ReaTune and modulate its Velocity Add parameter from the audio signal using PM. For many things that’s fine and for many others you can just humanize or draw it in or whatever. Every note it spits out will be the same volelocity no matter how loud the input is. IDK about the other options offered above, but I know that ReaTune is not velocity sensitive.

Unlike Duet Display, Astropad focuses solely on mirroring your Mac's screen - you can't use it as a true second monitor. (We'll talk about Duet Pro in just a little bit.) Duet Display's standard version still offers no drawing tools or pressure sensitivity, however.ĭuet Display - See on the App Store (opens in new tab) Astropad StandardĪstropad was the first app that offered iPad users a truly great drawing tablet for their Mac: It was built specifically for working in certain Mac programs, like Photoshop, and offered ultra-low latency for drawing through smart hardware optimizations. In late May, Duet at last offered a solution: an in-app Duet Pro subscription, which enables pressure sensitivity and line prediction for artists, among other tools. In the years since, Duet has improved its original app with options like a digital Touch Bar (for Macs without access to Apple's own hardware version), even faster rendering, and iPhone support - but no drawing capabilities, despite competition from newcomer Astropad. Unfortunately, where Duet initially lagged was with the art community - users who wanted that second screen for drawing on a digital Photoshop canvas (or mirroring the Mac's display to draw upon it): The otherwise speedy 60FPS screen had issues displaying Photoshop documents and vast-delayed strokes, making the drawing experience uninspired as a whole. Tournaments now use Overdrive instead of the original head-to-head mode, and have yet to include any gameplay modifiers in the tournaments thus far. Now, blitz tournaments run through the entire week, instead of just the weekends. However, the mode was re-released in December 2018, with a few changes. When Madden NFL Overdrive launched, the mode was not initially included in the game, which came as both a shock and disappointment to many returning players. This mode was released to overwhelming success, becoming one of the most popular game modes in Madden Mobile's history. Players had to get as many wins as possible over the course of the weekend, with the top players receiving sought after player cards as a reward. Madden NFL Overdrive removed the original head-to-head format and replaced it with the Overdrive mode. Madden Overdrive did away with the Head to Head mode with Madden Overdrive, replacing it with the game's namesake "Overdrive" mode. Every day of the week, there are new live events. There are also seasonal live events for things such as Black Friday, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, Easter as well as Super Bowl and Playoff Recap events. Events Įvents is a game mode in which players may participate in various challenges for rewards. There are multiple seasons modes, including 2022 NFL season involving the realistic season and managing teams. The game itself features standard football rules, such as scoring mechanics including touchdowns, field goals, and safeties. The ability for players to send other players within the league packs was discontinued with MM 2017. There is also another mode labeled "Leagues" where players may join or create a league alongside other players that face in Tournaments against other leagues, offering a chat box, goals with rewards such as players and tokens. The game is also level-based, and features like bonuses for rewards that increase as one reaches higher levels. While there isn’t much exposition involved to give you a lot of information, the art style captures the bleak and sometimes comedic nature of the game. Fortunately, there are only two endings and a secret “end.” Short but sweetĪll in all, THERE SWINGS A SKULL is a compelling-if not provocative-short story about the coming apocalypse. You’ll have to read carefully to glean important information from the few character dialogues. Unfortunately, there’s not a lot of exposition offered throughout the game-not even through interacting with the environment. What’s great about this game is that it perfectly encapsulates how depressingly horrific things can get when you can feel that the world is about to end. Nevertheless, you don’t have to worry too much about getting the right endings since they’ll mostly just give you a choice near the end. There aren’t a lot of interactive objects that will give descriptions-which is a shame since the story is pretty vague about its overall setting. The gameplay here is pretty easy as you’ll mostly just walk around to trigger cutscenes. The Present era of the world of Evoland 2 the action takes place 50 years after the Past era and everything is much more quiet. Evoland 2 Walkthrough A guide with all the chapters, puzzles and bosses, with videos and tips to complete the game. In THERE SWINGS A SKULL, you play as Anatoli, a mild-mannered aged man living with his husband Pyotr in the quiet town of Pareildas. Perhaps the point of it is that you don’t always have to speak just because you can. Occasionally, it does feel like Alex interrupts when I wanted to hear what her friends were saying, and I have mixed feelings about that. And a lot of the dialogue here is like that. I say stupid things with close friends when I’m not worried about being judged. Even if I didn’t relate to these characters in every way, I could relate to the experience. But it all blends seamlessly together so it feels less forced and less scripted than other adventure games. Some of it is silly, meaningless banter, but they also discuss deep, emotional and relationship issues. It feels organic, like you’re roaming the woods having a conversation with some friends (and forgive me - frenemies). Your friends will continue talking even if you don’t, but they’ll respond to your silence. The conversation automatically happens and you can decide join in or opt out completely. You don’t just stand in front of them and tap them to make them talk. It works differently than other games, in that the characters talk while they’re walking. But with OXENFREE, I couldn’t see it any other way. I don’t like having to deal with quick time events (QTEs) or making split-second decisions that affect my whole experience. I have not been able to get into the Telltale games, as I find them stressful for narrative games. In OXENFREE, that thing is walking and talking at the same time. Once in a while, a game comes along that does something that works so well for the genre that it makes me wonder why I haven’t seen it done before and wish that other games will follow suit. The main source of entertainment while you’re walking is the dialogue. But luckily the environments are a treat to look at and there’s plenty to keep you occupied while you walk from location to location. I have a terrible sense of direction, so I’m sure that played a part in it. On my first play-through I got lost quite a bit, despite glancing at the map frequently. But I’ll talk more about that later.Įdwards Island is fairly small but can feel bigger when you’re walking around on it. If you race through the game, you can actually miss quite a bit of the extras and even some of the main story and wind up a little confused at the end. As you play, you’ll be able to tune it to hear all sorts of stuff, some necessary to continue and others optional. It’s useful for tuning in to the island’s radio station to learn about its history near certain landmarks, but it actually serves a much bigger purpose. To use the radio, you just tap the icon in the upper right corner and then swipe left or right to change the station. This can be talking to someone, inspecting an item, or continuing to the next area. There are white circles that indicate interactive spots and if you get near one, the option to interact will pop up. The controls are streamlined for touch screens, with either tap-to-move or tap-and-hold to lead Alex where you want her to go. You play as Alex, a blue-haired girl who is pretty good with radios and brought one with her. As you might guess, some weird things happen as they’re alone on this island, but I’ll let you discover that for yourself. They’ve also never spent the night until now. What I can tell you is that the story follows a small group of friends just about college age taking a trip to Edwards Island, a place some of them used to frequent as kids but never together as a group. But luckily, there’s plenty to discuss without spoiling that. I don’t want to say too much about the plot because that will ruin all the fun. But it ended up being one of the most enjoyable narrative, point-and-click adventures I’ve experienced in a long time. I had just come off a few dialogue-heavy games that I wasn’t enjoying and I was nervous about starting another one, especially if it was going to rush me. So when the game surprised me with an iOS release, I have to admit I hesitated just a bit before buying it again. With a mouse, this felt rushed and I wasn’t compelled to continue playing it just then. It starts off with lots of dialogue and my character, Alex, offered me three speech bubbles to pick from, which disappeared if I didn’t choose quickly. And from those first few minutes, I was actually a little worried I might not like it. I only booted it up to test the connection between my laptop and my new TV. Since there was no word on that ever happening, I grabbed it for my PC during a holiday sale, knowing full well I may never get to it because I don’t like playing games on my PC. I didn’t want to be spoiled, so I only learned enough about it to think that it looked like something that would play perfectly on an iPad. Night School Studio’s OXENFREE has been on my radar since it released on PC and consoles last year to accolades from both the press and players alike. You can also apply a host of metadata and ratings to catalog your images. Perhaps I just wasn’t testing it on the right photos. In all honesty, I had mixed results with this tool, and I was struggling to see the use. The Visualize Dust tool allows you to spot these issues more easily. Oftentimes, there are small imperfections or “dust” on photos that need to be removed. ON1 Photo RAW 2022 also adds an interesting feature that is meant to help spot areas of your photos that need retouching. These virtual albums allow for more flexibility in your photo management without destroying your underlying folder hierarchy. This could include all photos tagged with the keyword “sunset.” For example, you could create a Smart Album for sunset photos. Smart Albums are also an excellent tool for bringing together multiple photos from different occasions with similar themes. This means you do not have to spend time using the Advanced Search tool each time you want to access specific photos. You can save the results of Advanced Searches as Smart Albums. They are virtual folders that do not affect the original hierarchy of your folder structure. These are essentially the same as Collections and Smart Collections in Adobe Lightroom Classic. ON1 Photo RAW 2022.1 also introduced Smart Albums. It gives you far greater control over the editing process and can save you from needing to recreate specific editing steps. This is incredibly useful for multistage editing as you can create and name a Snapshot for each stage. Click on it and you can see all Snapshots for the current image. The Snapshots tool is found in the top right-hand corner of the Edit tab. However, you must take the Snapshots it’s not an automatic process. Think of Snapshots as your editing history, so that, if you don’t like the progress you’ve made on a photo, you can go back to previous stages of the edit. However, the Snapshots feature takes this one step further. That is, you can add and remove changes without adjusting the original image file. ON1 Photo RAW 2022 is fully non-destructive. So instead of creating a new search each time, you can simply choose one of your saved searches to further speed up the process. I found the Advanced Search simple to use, and you can be as detailed or simplistic as you want with the searches. The available search fields are many and include things like camera, album, color label, date, star rating, keywords, and file name. Lastly, you can add different search fields. For example, you can request that the program returns matches that only contain the rules you add. Next, you can specify the search criteria. I love the Sky Swap AI tool – it’s so fun to use! Prior to such powerful AI tools, if you wanted to swap the sky in your photos, you would need to painstakingly create selection masks and manually insert a new image overlay in a program like Photoshop. The list of additions/improvements includes: For the first part of this ON1 Photo RAW 2022 review, we will look at these new features. ON1 Photo RAW 2022.1 does have a great variety of updates and improvements over ON1 Photo RAW 2022 (and, indeed, Photo RAW 2021). Note that ON1 Photo RAW 2022 was released in September 2021, but the program was soon followed by an update, ON1 Photo RAW 2022.1. All of this is searchable using the new Advanced Search tool. You can create extensive folder hierarchies and catalog your images using ratings and keywords. Its Browse module gives users full control over photo organization. ON1 Photo RAW 2022 also acts as a top-notch photo management program.
